Damage to Vehicle Tyres |
||
|
Dear Resident, The Cuckoo Oak and Ironbridge Safer Neighbourhood Team have been informed of several incidents of tyre damage, whereby ‘caltrop’ style spikes have been found in the tyres of vehicles across Ironbridge and further afield. Tyre damage, if caused by others, is a form of criminal damage. It can bear a significant financial impact to the victim and can compromise the safety of both the victim and wider community. We are asking the public to remain vigilant and take into consideration the following steps; Ensure Safety- Check your tyres before starting out on your journey. If you notice that your tyre is damaged by a tyre spike then arrange for a repair or replacement immediately. A guide to punctures and repairs can be found here- Your Guide To Tyre Punctures and Puncture Repairs | TyreSafe Report It- Report the incident to the police. You can do this online at Report | West Mercia Police. In an emergency, always call 999. Gather Evidence- Take photos of the damage and if possible note the exact location, date and time of the incident. If you suspect a particular individual then document any proof that you have. This might include CCTV or dashcam footage. Inform Others- Make others in the area aware of the incidents, as there may be multiple victims. Shared awareness can encourage reporting and can help the police in identifying patterns and potentially lead to more evidence. If you aren't comfortable contacting us directly, you can pass on information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers, by calling 0800 555 111 or by visiting their website Independent UK charity taking crime information anonymously | Crimestoppers Kind Regards, Amy (PCSO Newbrook 40337). | ||
